Karteez terms of use

The rules for using the Karteez service by merchants and their teams.

Version of October 12, 2026

  1. 01Purpose

These terms of use govern access to the Karteez service, which lets merchants manage their catalog, stock, sales, invoicing, finances and, depending on the plan, an online store. They apply to every account created on the platform: store owner or member of their team.

This English version is provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

  2. 02Account and access

Each account is personal. Users choose their password, keep it confidential and promptly report any suspicious use. Actions performed from an account are recorded in their name in the store’s activity log.

The owner invites team members and assigns their roles; the owner is responsible for the access they grant.

  3. 03Plans and contract

The features available depend on the plan chosen (Essential, Pro) or agreed with Karteez (Enterprise). The subscription is monthly and paid in advance: the space of a merchant who signs up online opens once the first month is paid, and monthly billing starts from the date of that first payment. There is no free trial.

Without payment on the due date, the store is suspended (space read-only, online store closed) until payment; data is kept. Karteez may also suspend access in the event of a serious breach, after informing the merchant.

  4. 04Account closure

The merchant may request closure of their account at any time. Karteez also closes inactive accounts: a sign-up whose first month has not been paid after 6 months, or a store suspended for 12 months. An email warns the holder 30 days beforehand; simply signing in keeps the account.

On closure, access is disabled, personal data (team, customers, suppliers) is erased and the store address is released. Invoices, credit notes and accounting entries are kept without access for the legal period (10 years), then deleted. An account that was never paid is fully erased.

  5. 05Merchant’s responsibility

The merchant is solely responsible for their business: products sold, prices, legal and tax compliance, invoice mentions, customer relations, deliveries, refunds and respect for their customers’ rights. The document templates provided (terms of sale, legal notice, privacy) are starting points to be adapted and validated by a professional.

  6. 06Data and privacy

The data entered by the merchant (catalog, sales, customers, finances) belongs to them. Karteez processes it solely to operate the service, as the merchant’s processor for their customers’ data, in accordance with Senegalese Law No. 2008-12. The Karteez privacy policy details this processing.

The merchant can obtain a copy of their data at any time. At the end of the contract, it is handed over on request, then deleted within a reasonable time, subject to legal retention obligations (notably for invoices).

The Karteez team does not view a merchant’s space, except for support and only when necessary. Such access is justified by a reason, limited in time and logged; it appears in the store’s activity log. To run the service, Karteez only tracks milestone indicators (for example: catalog online, payments set up, first order received), without amounts or customer data.

  7. 07Service availability

Karteez strives to provide an available and secure service, without being able to guarantee it will be uninterrupted. Mobile money and other payments are made directly between the customer and the merchant: Karteez does not collect any money on the merchant’s behalf.

  8. 08Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The version in force is dated; a significant new version must be accepted at the next sign-in.

  9. 09Governing law

These terms are governed by Senegalese law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution is sought first; failing that, the competent courts of Dakar have jurisdiction.
